Steampunk "Inspired" Maria...

Here's the reveal of Steampunk "Inspired" Commission Maria,

From the one and only Mr. Erick Scarecrow.  Yup, the mystery is over, this commission piece is now part of my personal collection, and I couldn't be any happier.  It was hella hard trying to think of a colorway, because the rules was that it couldn't be a colorway that Mr. ESC had previously done.  I thought about it for weeks, and then finally, on my way home from work it popped in my head.

Before the launching of his Soopa Maria line, I remember when ESC did his show for his Soopa Coin-Up Brothers Arcade figure.  I soooooo wanted to be there, being that I'd been into ESC's figs for that long and then some, lol.  But there was one piece that I really wanted to land my hands on, and it was the piece that Doktor A had done.  Well, long story short, I wasn't able to get it, lol.

So on my drive home, that piece popped into my mind, "That's it, I want a steampunk-inspired colorway."  So I got home and typed out detail, by detail, what colors I wanted where, from the gold and silver tail to the copper hat to the gold lipstick.  I can't believe how unreal the colors came out, it came out super wicked.  The copper looks super realistic and the gold and silver jus' totally blings her out.   But without further delay, here's the reveal...

I'm super grateful and lucky to add her to my collection.  I've admired ESC's work for quite some time and I seriously can't believe that my ESC collection is where it's at, the fact that I got the opportunity to get this awesome commission and the super unreal honor of "working" with Mr. Scarecrow, unreal, friggen unreal.  Much thanks to my homies who made it all happen.

Breakfast at Tiffany's...

Breakfast at Tiffany's,

Never seen the movie, but Tiffany's is the inspiration for this Soopa Maria one-off commission piece.  I got the opportunity to see this commission piece for an 808 private collector up close and personal, and he gave me his blessings to reveal this hottie.  She's a beauty, painted with that rich "sky Tiffany's" blue, bounced off with a nice neutral punch of black and accented with a clam pearly silver.  The collector of this beauty is one happy dude.

Fade to Black...

Fade to Black,

That's what I call these series of pics that I took this evening.  The pics are of Erick's three colorways of his Super Maria figures; the Shiro (white), Grayscale (mono) and Kage (black).  I posted pics of the duo Shiro and Kage yesterday, today it's the trio.

The idea of taking pics of this trio was in my mind since Mr. Scarecrow announced these colorways, and I just had to have my hands on all three of 'em so that I could bring what was in my mind into fruition.  I also stepped up my game a little, playing a little more with lighting, and I really, really like how these photos came out.

No photo editing of any kind was done to these pics, with the exception of resizing, and that's it.  I really wanted to capture the rawness and neutral-ness (ya I made that word up, lol) of the grays, blacks and whites.  I hope you like these pics as much as I do!  Again thanks to the powers that be for these Soopas.

Ivory n Ebony...

Ivory n Ebony,

Gotta love it.  It's always nice to get some goodies in the mail, and this is the latest.  I really couldn't wait for this duo to arrive, much due to the fact that one is a flat white Soopa (aka Shiro) and the other is a glossy see thru resin black Soopa (aka Kage) which makes a beautious dynamic duo in neutral colors.

The unraveling of these two took place at a undisclosed location *cough* *cough* with some really cool "affiliates" of mine.  But yup, yup, very happy to have these two as part of the latest to my collection.  Much thanks to the powers that be for these two beauties, you know who you all are.

Like Liqui, like ice...

Like Liqui, like ice,

That's what comes to mind when I look at this beauty.  This was a special commission piece from Mr. ESC himself.  When I unwrapped her and saw her for the first time, my jaw dropped.  As I look at this beauty it's almost as though ESC tapped into his bag of magic and was able to capture the "icy look" of this uber rare piece.  This Liqui colorway, as ESC named her, comes from his line of Super Maria figs, which came in a number of colorways.  His Soopa Maria line came to an awesome close at the end of 2010, this design will be missed, but knowing Mr. ESC, he always has more goodness to come.

Much thanks to the powers that be (ya'll know who you are) for helping me land my hands on this piece.

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile,

Man, things have been super crazy busy with work, but you gotta do what you gotta do, and all in all, I like what I do.  But here's a couple of pics I took of Erick Scarecrow's Ichigo Mama Panya figure, which came out in the og and a very secret colorway, which I don't have.  But here's a few pics of the og colorway that I took, I really like how the shadows came out in these pics.

Twins r Hawt...

Just another moment proving twins are hawt,

Within a few months, Erick Scarecrow came out with these two Soopa Maria GID Twins colorways, the first one being the pink one and the second one being the green one.  Side by side under blacklight,  these two figs look sick.

Time is ticking...

Time is ticking,

As ESC is near closing out his Soopa Maria line of figures, and it's been hella great, with all of the different colorways he's been pumping out.  This will be one of the most sought after figs once this particular line closes out.  This particular colorway is his Gamma colorway, and as I unwrapped the packaging, I thought to myself "Hmm, blacklight maybe?"  And here you go in all her glory under blacklight.

Wet-Suits undah blacklight...

As I kick it after a long week of work,

I decided to take some pics of my set of figs under blacklight.  These girls are from Erick Scarecrow and are known as his Soopa Maria Wet-Suit figs.  The first OG green colorway made its debut at NYCC.  Next up to bat was the reddish Maguma colorway which was an instant success here in the 808.  ESC's most recent Wet-Suit colorway is his Buru light blue colorway, which released in Japan.  So ya, the pics below are all in that order, enjoy...

ESC "Girls Represent" Recap Vid...

"Girls Represent" Recap (Erick Scarecrow+Prototype+808orbit+Girl Fest)

“Girls Represent,” held on Friday evening on November 5th, was surely an evening to remember.  The event debuted Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Wet-Suit Maguma Hawaii Exclusive figure at Prototype’s Ala Moana Shopping Center store location.  “Girls Represent” also kicked off Girl Fest, a week-long event that promotes positivity and empowerment in women through music, art and education.  ESC diehards stood in line ahead of time to guarantee their hands landing on the Maguma figure and nearly 100 spectators stopped by to check out what was going on and/or got their Prototype shopping fix out of their system.

Hawaii’s very own talent also joined hands as Prototype held up their sales.  Deejaybetty slammed one mean non-stop remix set which infused hip hop and urban tracks with trance and house beats, ridiculous.  In Prototype’s entrance window, Remi Mead slapped up a live painting canvas session, which resulted in one sick piece of art.  There were freebies to be given out; ESC prints to the first 8 Maguma figure buying fans and gummy froggies to the first 50 customers who entered Prototype.  There were also raffle prizes to be won, which included Remi’s painting, Erick Scarecrow figures and apparel and blindbox figures.

Money from the raffle tickets were donated to a Hawaii worthy cause and a portion of Erick’s shirt sales were donated to Andy from Toysrevil.  There was a healthy heaping of people who made the evening a memorable one.

Stop playing with your food HaynMade...

Momma always said,

Stop playing with your food.  I guess that artsy fartsy side in me could never resist, lol.  A fellow collector friend of mine hooked me up with some cupcakes from Cake Couture, damn, it's pretty good stuff.  But when I first opened the box, I thought to myself, "Hmm, these guys would look good with some of my figs."  And poof, here you go, lol...

Red Velvet (with a Luke Chueh Possessed figure)...

Pumpkin Creamcheese (with a Sam Flores Wyger figure)...

Mocha (with an Erick Scarecrow Soopa Maria figure)...

And Peanutbutter and Jelly (with a Mark Landwehr Paw figure)...

Thanks friend for fulfilling my sweet tooth!

My first post...

What's up peopz,

I went ahead and started up a blog so that people from the 808 and beyond can get the chance to see all of the crazy antics I'm up to.  A lot of the urbanz world peopz know that I enjoy taking GID and blacklight pics, I think they look so super cool.  To start it off, kinda as a test run, here's a pic I took awhile back, but I really really like how it came out.

This pic is of Erick Scarecrow's (aka ESC) "Poison Berry Konstrictica" colorway of his Medusa fig.  This is the third colorway of his Medusa line, and under blacklight as you can see, she looks hella sassy...
